I love old photos and am thrilled that many organizations (such as libraries) have put historical images online.

Here's a link for historical Colorado photos.

http://photoswest.org

My favorite way to surf this site is to click the "search" button then enter a keyword and just see what comes up. If you're looking for something specific, be sure to try variations on a word (bike, bicycle, cycling, etc.) because the site has a ton of great stuff but it's not necessarily cataloged uniformly.

If you know of other sites, please add to the list. :)

Hey, I am re-designing a site for a man that does just this as well.

Here's the old one: http://www.imagesofthepastgallery.com

His form of payment?

1) His knowledge! He's going to be spending some time with me in his studio going over lighting. I'm also attending photo classes at no cost.

2) I'm going to snag one of his framed images. They are very cool.

By the way, this man has switched to digital for almost all of his processing. He has an Epson 7600(?) and makes large prints from originals. His comment to me last night was that the new inks and paper are equally as good as film in most cases now.

By the way, you should see his studio. It's a museum of photgraphic technology. Glass slides, old camera's, etc. Amazing stuff.

He has more than 100,000 negatives and prints dating a back to the 1800's/early 1900's. Amazing stuff.
