Hello all I am a semi new photographer and I am really considering buying the Canon S5IS and I just wanted to make sure that this is a good decision. It is on sale at Circuit City for $299 and this seems like a great price. The camera will be mainly for sporting events such as minor league baseball games and college baseball. I have noticed some great features that seem to make the camera great for my need. Im really liking the sports mode and burst mode where I can get a batters swing. If anyone has one of has used one and can give me some help. I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks alot.

Alex: If you buy one, get the service contract -- you'll need it. Lots of these cameras have a design flaw (google "Canon Lens Error" or "e18 error" -- they are the same problem). Canon refused to fix my 5-month-old S5 IS when it failed. I'm out $330.
