I need some advice. I'm looking to buy a point-n-shoot for my travels to japan. I'd like to spend no more than 400-500 USD and there are a few features I'm looking for. Of course, I'd like great photo quality but I'd also like a camera with good video capabilities; something that can take decent videos a couple of minutes long. Also, the smaller the better, and durability would be nice to boot. I will have to travel lite on many occasions and I don't want to worry about breaking the LCD screen if I stick the camera in my pocket. I've looked at the Canon SD 1100 and the Olympus Stylus 1020 but I'm not sure if these are necessarily the best option for me. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'd try the Canon Powershot G9. I've shot with one a few times and the image quality is great for a P&S not to mention it's compact unlike the pseudo SLR Olympus'. Also take a look at the Nikon Coolpix P80 since it's recieved stellar reviews.

Thanks, the Nikon looks a little too big for what I need but I'll definitely check out the Canon Powershot G9.
