Hello,

I have a Canon PowerShot S5 IS am I able to put any additional lenes on this camera. Bare with me I brand new to all this.

According to www.bhphotovideo.com there are lense adapters to fit on your S5IS. The lense adapter will either increase or decrease the magnification. No clue as to quality/etc... you may find some reviews though on this site of B&H's. Check out the accessory section and then expand on that near the bottom of the screen:

A friend of mine has the S5 IS and also the telephoto adapter for it. From what I have heard him say, he looses some light with the adapter, and it makes for some slow shutterspeeds...

I have no experience with this camera, but it's something to consider.

I have an S2IS and have used an auxiliary lens on it. They screw into the filter threads, which these cameras do not have out of the box. You will need an adapter, Canon makes one, but I suggest LensMate, it is a much sturdier product than Canon's. This adapter also protects your lens from damage.
