I didn't realize until I got this photo on my PC, that his eye is just not quite right. I can't imagine that he was sleeping, considering they don't sit it one spot for more than a few seconds. Maybe they take real shot cat naps. What stinks is, this would have probably been my best oriole shot.

NICE shot!!

That's a nictitating membrane, not a cataract or blindness. Birds use it (As do sharks and lizards) to protect the eye without closing it.

Have you tried cloning in an eye from another oriole shot?

Hey, you've got quite a few colorful birds in your area!

I caught a sandhill crane kind of like that, too, with the membrane halfway across the eye.
