I've been reading that "Cocoon's" made by RED WING have an advantage over most "Tent" setups because of their translucent plastic panels reducing glare of objects such as "shiny" ceramics and jewelery.

Interestingly most ads cite the use of a 50mm Film Lens as being the ideal focal length for use with the Red Wing Model 70.

If you have used either (or both) I would like to hear from you whether this is true. Also I can find no listing for Red Wing.... as they appear to have gone out of business (no web site or link to a company. Have they gone under?

Thanks!

Welcome to the site. Marc. Calumet (http://www.calumetphoto.com/) sells cocoon light tents under their own brand name. I'm not sure if they're made by RW or not.

I have and use one and I think they're pretty good...

Steve...

Thanks for the info and many dealers still sell RED WING, its just there they seem to have no Web site up. I've found that BOWERS Manuf out of th UK sells them which leads me to beleive its them. I have an e-mail into them asking same.

Question though.... Do you find it a hassle UnZipping and Zipping up objects when you are shooting, i.e. the time it takes to do multiple setups?

Well, I'm not a product shooter, so I hardly ever use mine. But yes, I HATE zipping and unzippping it when I do... :cryin:
