I was rumaging thru some old slides of mine and found this B&W of a fence that I always liked. I used my trusty slide copier to come up with the digital.

I realize that probably a lot was lost in the copy but I'd still like to know what y'all think of the copy.

Excellent light creates beautiful shadows and depth in your photo. You can almost feel the warmth of the sun.
However... The large trees should not be dead centre in your shot -- they should be to the side of your composition to allow the eye to roam around the scene. There is also a serious drop in quality from your print to scan. Some areas are really mottled and pixelated. Solutions: try changing your settings and scan at a better image quality. Or maybe your JPEG compression settings need to be set at HIGH quality rather than LOW quality. Or perhaps you should clean the lens on your Sony Mavica (I make a point of cleaning my lens every time I shoot -- unbelievable how a dirty lens can affect the image).

Actually I think the pixelation doesn't hurt at all but I think there is too much foreground.

Other than some cropping, there wasn't much done in retouching this photo.
I should have lost more of the grass in the foreground when I cropped it.

I'll go back and play with it some more.

I think the pixillation is a bit strong and does not help. The photo is really hard to evaluate with the distortion and the size. If it were large and the contrast were as good as it looks it could be a good photo. I bet the slide is good. Maybe try to reproduce it a better way.
