I am taking a photography class at the local college and last week we pulled pieces of paper out of a bag and each had a different word on it that we had to take a picture that represented the word we had drawn. This is a sailboat that went under during hurricane Katrina and was pulled out of the water several months ago covered with barnacles. This is a very sharp and detailed picture, I just haven't mastered the correct posting pictures technique yet!

The two words I drew were "ROUGH" and "HANDY". This is the idea I came up with for "ROUGH". What do you think, Jeff

Having grown up in barnacle land and being cut by them throughout my childhood, I'd say you NAILED rough! I've never seen barnacles that sizes. WOW!

Good subject for 'rough'. I think it might depict better with a closer shot of the barnicles.

I went out and took the picture over a little closer instead of just cropping it. Does this work any better? Jeff

Can't see the shot but I agree that closer might help. Actually, closer with a wide angle so not only do the barnacles appear very close but you'll see the rest of the boat as well.

No problem posting shots here, but the Critique Forum may really be a better spot for specifics. It's an interesting project and I am glad you posted it here so we see what you're coming up with!

Nice take on the topic,

Question: Had this boat sunk?

Some keel hauling needs to happen here:lol:

Ouch! :yikes:

The second shot does show detail more than the first one, and I know (and I'm sure Roger knows) that we're looking at a boat - but I wonder if a little more of it, thinking of a slightly different angle like towards the back of it to include more, might make it more obvious.

I just ran down and took this one! Is this what you meant? This is similar to the first one but has a slightly more side view and the lighting is better? Jeff

This boat had sunk during hurricane Katrina and was later pulled out of the water and is setting in the parking lot of what WAS the marina.
