Went out to Ding Darling this morning in hopes of catching a few of the White Pelicans that have returned for the winter. Was actually a pretty quiet day out there (relatively speaking). I did, of course, run across a few critters to shoot:

Young Raccoon. This little fellow happened along while I was laying in the mud shooting the Reddish Egret. All I had was my 600mm L, so I swung that beast around and shot him a few times before he breached my minimum focusing distance of 18 feet. He walked within 4 feet of me. I sure was wishing I had my 70-200L on my XTi right about then! Anyway, this was about the best I could do.....shooting him as he left the trees walking toward me:

Love the trio of white pelicans. Nice you captured the foot-splash too.

I bet even a pair of chest waders doesn't keep you completely clean. So do you go running into the surf at the end of the day to wash that stuff off? :)
