Despite low temperatures right around the freezing mark the last several nights, I looked really really hard today for any signs of life.

Saw two frogs (which immediately jumped into the icy cold water - being cold blooded they probably don't feel it, things ...just.....start..........to...............slow.. ......................down :p ), one grasshopper, one little flying thing, and two of these.

Both he and his twin brother (a few leaves away) were completely immobile. Still half-frozen and not yet thawed by the gray morning light.

Last of the little critters I suspect until spring :(

Thanks, Knight. Just yesterday our local weatherman said that November and December should be mild while January and February will be severe. But then he follows that up immediately with "but I could be wrong".

Easy job these weathermen/women. Can you imagine a car mechanic saying "You're transmission is shot and will cost $2k to fix it. It'll run like new after that. Or I could be wrong". :p

I know, weather is not the exact science. But he could have simply said, "your guess is as good as mine" :D
