I'm the eternal beginner. Anyway, Just got my first SLR since the late 90's. Picked up a Nikon D40 and having fun with it. I lost my one time pride and joy Rebel in a cab years ago.

Anyway, how does this grab/not grab ya and why?

Welcome to PR! :) The textures and contrasting are great on this shot. That said, I would definitely like to see some more DOF. Looks like you shot at f/5.6. I think a little smaller of an aperture, maybe f/11 or even f/16, would make this one a winner. Looking forward to seeing some more shots :D
