I'm in the same boat as Asylum Steve in the belief that there are many things in photography that if you pay full price for it you're a sucker, because you can make comparable products for much less. Now that I've started shooting more wildlife, and I'm going to maine this week for a whole week of wildlife photography, I started to think back to an article I read. Imagine you are some sort of wildlife and you see this giant creature come towards you with a giant white thing, and point it straight at you. Would you be scared? The answer is of course, so I decided to make a camo cover. Costed about $2 total, a trip to joann fabrics, and a couple hours of work.

well the reason for the white is because of FL elements. they are very sensitive to heat so they cant be black because it will effect the elements. so there's a reason other than marketing. :)

actually, after looking at the prices more today, lenscoat charges $95 for them! If I can get my hands on some camo neoprene, then I will most certainly market them. and for cheaper than 95 dollars!

I'm pretty sure that Seattle Fabrics (http://www.seattlefabrics.com/)(gotta love google) is the place that a friend told me about. I see they have camo and neo, but not both - but it might be worth a call.

BTW - my friend is a guy, an industrial tool maker, former rancher and built a tanner for hides out of an old cement mixing truck. He also TIG welded an aluminum kayak and has made a lot of his own outdoor clothing and gear. He's one of the neatest guys I've ever met!

thanks AV, I sent them an email just now. They do have a camo neoprene, but it looks very strange. I'm looking for a design more like the woodland camo print. I'll let you guys know how it works out!

I'm right there with you Ray. We bought a sewing machine with the intention of my wife learning how to sew. It's a good thing my mother lives right next door since she is wiz with her sewing machine. The wife has been way to busy to even think about picking up another project like learning to sew, but hopefully in the future...
