View Full Version : Rooster Sitting On Mantle (With Legs Crossed) Tuna 07-27-2007, 10:34 AM http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v382/redboys/RoosterOnMantle.jpg Tyson L. Sparks 07-27-2007, 04:06 PM What the %&*(* ??????????????????? gahspidy 07-27-2007, 07:12 PM This is quite striking. Is this a real mantle piece? It's so odd I would think it was added in afterwards as a composite. In any case, the entire composition is excellent. The inclusion of the painting above with it's farm scene behind the rooster ties it all in. This is an extraordinary piece. PrevailingConditions 07-27-2007, 08:47 PM I have come to expect something different from Tuna and you never disappoint. Gary has better eyes then me. I initially thought it was two pictures, then I was wondering if the rooster was Photoshopped into the picture. It is a very interesting mantle piece. Great lighting, color, and focus. PC Don Schaeffer 07-27-2007, 08:57 PM very neat--magical and light hearted Yoyo Szeto 07-28-2007, 05:05 AM Hi Tuna, This is a striking shot! The oblique lines are amazing! Thanks for sharing. yoyo Frog 07-28-2007, 09:30 AM Sorry but its not working for me because it looks like two pictures at first and my eye keeps jumping from upper to lower portions but not traveling smoothly. I will say it might look better BIG! mamajan 07-28-2007, 10:12 AM :skep: :skep: :skep: I'm with Tyson. Tyson L. Sparks 07-28-2007, 11:42 AM :skep: :skep: :skep: I'm with Tyson. I still have no words for this "piece". I am going to go run my head into wall a few times and try looking again:thumbsup: :mad2: :cryin: Ok now that I am back with tears in my eyes it still looks the same.... Tuna, you are one of a kind:D Rooster..............Sitting................It has legs............On a mantle................ What the $^%&& swmdrayfan 07-28-2007, 11:58 AM Good one Tuna. mdmc 07-28-2007, 10:20 PM Hi Tuna, This is a nice shot. Very original. I echo Gary's sentiments about the scene above tying in with the subject. This looks like a print they sell in stores(and I mean that as a high compliment, not a put down). Looks like a finnished product from a studio. On my screen the legs look like a black blob, but I checked it out in ps raising the levels and see all the detail you captured. Now I wonder if you drew in or created the legs. I cant tell. If you did, great job! Eithier way, beautiful lighting and a striking composition. Congrats on the sticky. Well deserved. Mark. Tuna 07-29-2007, 06:15 AM Wow - sticky'ed. Thank you for thus honoring this bit of whimsy. Not a composite - presented as seen, legs and all. Tuna starriderrick 08-01-2007, 06:24 AM Nice work, worthy of the sticky.Congratulations Tuna. dbutler 08-01-2007, 08:27 AM Tuna, great fun shot!! I think it's awesome. Did you do any processing to make him pop like that? He looks almost 3D. I'd love to capture that quality in some of mine. I like the grouping as well. All the elements work with him. gahspidy 08-02-2007, 06:55 AM I had to comment again . . . Tuna, sometimes when we stand way back from a photograph or piece of art we can get a good feel of the composition and how everything blends together without being"distracted' by the details. Looking at the thumbnail of this at the top of the page gives the same effect, and this photograph really is a powerful composition even though the subject is light and whimsical. Xia_Ke 08-02-2007, 07:35 AM This is one of those photos that just sticks with me. I've held off on commenting til now as I keep coming back to it, honestly not knowing what to make of it :o That chicken is just creepy, like some clown of the nightmares a child would have...LOL I know this may sound bad but, having looked at this shot quite a bit, I LOVE it :D Well done once again Tuna. My only little nitpick is maybe just crop a hair off the top but, not a biggie. Congrats on the sticky :) Now excuse while I try and get that freaky chicken out of my head ;) Aaron Tuna 08-02-2007, 12:34 PM It's an honor to be sticky'ed and thank you to all for all your comments! Did you do any processing to make him pop like that? He looks almost 3D. I'd love to capture that quality in some of mine. I believe the "pop" may be due to some selective focusing (DOF) combined with the fortunate side-lighting that is falling on the subject. Tuna Greg McCary 08-05-2007, 09:52 PM I have mixed feelings on this one Tuna. The picture frame running through the roosters head bothers me the most. But I must say after seeing it at the top of the page for a week, it has grown on me some. I still say you are in a league all to yourself. How's it going with that QL17? Greg Lava Lamp 08-06-2007, 08:23 PM http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v382/redboys/RoosterOnMantle.jpg Like it. Running to shoot my mantle now... I have a heron, do you think it will still work? :) |
