I went to check down at my park pond to see if the mallard chicks had arrived andi was happy to see they had, but their mum was'nt so pleased when these two gulls decided to land when the chicks were out, so she made it her job to chase them off!
It was'nt until i checked the pictures that i noticed that the bird in the first 2 images had a leg ring attached.

Mommy must have been coming awfully fast to push a wake that big! Love how baby is looking on like "what's going on?". :)

Love the water curl in the last shot. It's unfortunate that the head is hidden, although it does make one look at it longer.

Thanks Loupey, yes Mom was flying across the pond and the babies were obviously out having swimming practice as they looked like they had keys installed, as all of a sudden they would shoot across the pond as if they had been wound up!

I was really lucky to get any of the bird in #4 at all in the frame, but agree with your suggestion.

#2 you've got everything in the story.
Chick, mum charging and quacking, gull flying off - very nice.

She's putting up a wake about the size of Doris the radio controlled duck.
6V battery and maubichi racing boat motor, made people look twice when we got her up onto the plane and raced across the lake.

I love the last shot, even with the head being hidden.

Lol! Thanks Smartwombat i have visions running through my head right now!

Thanks Copy i think a picture like this leaves it up to the viewers imagination as to what they would percieve what the subject actually looks like.

Doris' big sister, Gertie the goose, was twin engined so we could spin her on the spot, and she had enough power to tow a punt.
I think I have a photo of her on our honeymoon in the hot tub of the Hotel de France, Jersey.

I love #4 as well as #2, the water is superb.
