I am ready to take the plunge and upgrade to a better digital camera! I currently own a Canon SD100.

I am a hobby photographer and I travel extensively. I want to be able to capture scenery, faces of people, nature, etc.

I want at least a 10x optical zoom, 5< mp and image stablizer.

So far I really like to Canon Powershot S3 and the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3S.

The Canon is a bit large so I am afraid I may draw attention to myself by carrying what appears to be a fairly expensive camera. I travel to some places where petty theft such as purse or camera snatching are common.

The Panasonic is a great size!

With all of that being said, which would you recommend or is there another camera that you think would be better for my needs?

I have read many reviews but there aren't many for the Lumix because it is new.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Unfortunately, I didn't receive any replies but I have done ample research. Yesterday I ordered the Canon S3 IS from www.buydig.com. I ordered the complete kit so I also got a $50 mail-in rebate on the camera and a $30 mail-in rebate for the printer.

My final total cost for everything below, after the rebates, was $360 and the shipping for ground is free! I saw the same camera at a camera store for $350 so I justified all the extras that will be put to good use.

So far I absolutely love my camera! I haven't quite figured out all the bells and whistles due to my aversion to manuals but I am learning it, slowly but surely!
