It was a windy day and with the odd weather we're having, it's making things tough. Hopefully within a few weeks some activity will start up.

All handheld, probably why they aren't as sharp as I'd like.
Sigma 105 macro
Sony alpha 100
Sony 36 flash
Lumiquest softbox (-.7 ev)

Post was a tad bit sharpening, but all else converted to jpg straight from the camera. Slight crop to change aspect ratio.

I wish I could have a "bad day at the office" like that ....

3 and 4 are my fav's ... great detail on 3 and the pollen all over the bee? in 4 is just incredible !!!

Those are nice. Gotta get me a softbox. I never used flash with macros, which as you know, can be a bit limiting...

Very nice, Payn.

I really like the dramatic lighting angle in #3 and the repeating patterns there. Looks like a studio shot!

So why am I still shooting birds ?!? :p

Ben, thanks. Maybe it wasn't a "bad" day, just not what I expected. The green bee is my fav too, and this is the first one I've ever seen.

Lava, it's a nice, cheap solution.

Knight, thank you.

Loupey, why are you still shooting birds? have you become an official nerd? I though we were gonna be the "macro guys"! That shot is actually flipped. In the original, the creature is hanging upside down. Flipping the image gave the appearance of the lighting coming from the bottom (which is really the top).

NO! possibly. maybe so :)

There is a bird ID book next to the toilet. So maybe so :p

That did it. I have just now stuffed the 180mm macro in my truck bag along with my trusty 300mm. That means I have to start using the tripod again - along with a remote release, mirror lockup, and good technique :D
