Today was an intersting day. It seemed like everywhere I went, there were dead critters. On my way to the woods I saw a turkey vulcher and a RT hawk sharing a road kill racoon in the ditch. A few miles down the road, I found this. Apparently this deer tried to jump the fence, but didn't make it. It's foot got tangled in the top 2 wires of the fence, and that's where the deer stayed. It's hard to tell in the photos, but the area where the deer was laying, was covered in fur. It looked like it struggled for quite a while...

About 50 yards from the deer, this was laying in the field. I'm guessing that someone saw it eating the deer, and shot it.

Death is a part of life, but it is always disheartening when it comes by the hand of man or his effects on the environment.

It is important to show images like these. Thanks for sharing.

Yep, seems a bit more like un-natural selection to me!

Yes sad, but true to life pictures, we sometimes think mother nature can be cruel, but man alone can be the real hell on earth.

This is going to seem mean... but... I would rather have one stuck to a fence, than through the windshield of my car

We have a huge overpopulation of deer where I live. Near bye the deer have Chronic Waisting Disease because of the size of the population... I have a heard of ten living in the woods behind my house  I don't feel so bad about the deer.

What I don't get is, why would someone shoot an animal just to leave it in a field? Not too long ago, some %&^# shot a bald eagle pretty close to where I live.
