Yes...another sunset thread. I took over 500 pictures this evening, here's one of the selections. I'll just post 1 in this thread because this is one of the more unique shots of tonight's.

Image is clickable, though flickr does show some compression catastrophe.

I wish it was a little wider, like maybe a pano. But that would be difficult to do because the exposure would differ so much from side to side (but you could always place it on Manual and lock the exposure..).

It's not apparent what that stuff is in the foreground - ? It adds to the shot, imo. The colors, though fairly typical, are nice... who cares if they're typical anyways.

thanks GB, panos dont work well at the beach.

SEE this example from the same day. (http://gallery.photographyreview.com/data/photography//500/coastal_waters_at_Marshall_Gulch.jpg)

See what I mean? The waves kinda mess it up.

Next time I'll vary my zoom more, I was using it quite a bit, because I had my tripod and I could afford to use the zoom with shutter speeds under 1/200 sec without blur. I was mostly zooming in while the sun was above the horizon.

Yep, I see it. Not sure if I would have really, really noticed if I wasn't warned what to look for though..

Too bad about the waves... it's a heck of a composition w/o those minor blemishes at the transition points. Thanks for the warning - I guess it applies not only to waves, but to any movement within the photo area, like clouds, tree branches, etc.
