Did you get a new camera, lens, or other photo gear this Holiday? What didja get?!?

Vote in the new Quick Poll >> (http://www.photographyreview.com/qikVote_1426crx.aspx)

I voted that I got nothing (boo hoo). But I just remembered that my dad gave me a very cool book on photography, science, and history. And it's from an edition of only 250! I am very excited about it.

Don't forget to post review for your new photo gear! After you've used it enough to get a good idea of how it works, please share your experience. The foundation of PhotographyREVIEW.com is the user reviews. We need everyone to share their experience by posting reviews.

Read and write camera and photo accessory reviews >> (http://www.photographyreview.com/reviewscrx.aspx)

Thanks in advance for the reviews!

Troublemaker!

I can't list it all. Gotta play the odds. You can check Other or 35mm SLR. I think 35mm SLR is close enough.

Technically, I don't think that one counts. You sold off your Nikon gear to buy that for yourself. And you got it before Christmas....

;-)

I got a new battery for my D200, a multipack of AA batteries (for my flash) and a pack of 50 DVD's to burn backups of my photo's on.

:-D

I'm being sent off to a couple of classes at the Palm Beach Photo Center later in January. I was hoping for a d200 since my wife is getting her eyes lasiked. I do have a 25th anniversary and and birthday coming up in February, hmmmm. A forthcoming rebate on my daughter's new laptop will be going toward the battery grip for the as of yet absent D200, or the 100 mm Tokina 2.8 ATX Pro for portrait work.

Hey Speed, you get out to the Boone area much, the family and I will be out that way Dec 28, till Jan 3. We might get as close as Elon to look at the school for my son.

Too much work and not enough time for fun. How goes everything out your way? Pretty cool down here. Happy Holidays, I hope you and all yours have a great new year.

No, no new gear this Christmas. In fact, the entire holiday weekend was a total break from anything to do with photography.

In my case that is a good thing, because it means I'm back to doing this as a full-time job.

Oh, and BTW: I love my job...

I bouught myself a new camera bag a couple weeks ago. It was kind of a Christmas gift to myself, but nothing photo related from anyone else, unless you count the framed photo of my nephew.

Santa was good to me this year. They are coming a few days after Christmas though. Looks like I'll be ordering later today/tomorow the Tokina 12-24 F4 lens, and a pair of the Pocketwizard MultiMax radio slaves :)

I'm just a little excited :) :) :)

My wife also got me a 5x8 background, a tabletop product shooting background, and a lens cleaning kit.

Christmas - still don't feel like eating yet :D:

I got a Canon 430EX
5 in 1 reflectors 110cm which as Alison pointed out were fun to pack away the first couple of times.

Didn't get the 30D + lenses though.

Will now need to get some people to sit while I fiddle and learn.

This year, I got nothing and as a rule we don't Karen and I don't buy each other camera stuff for Christmas. Actually, this year I only got HD television service which is fine by me.

For Karen, I bought her a Cartier watch with the money that I was going to buy my ProMac computer. It's been a tough year for her and for us, and computers will come and go. It's a beautiful watch and it's my way of saying thanks for her future role as a mother.

Overall, I've taken a break from photography for the better part of the year, but I am now getting that positive motivation again. 2007 looks like a beautiful year!!!

I bought a lens on Ebay that didn't come with the lens hood. One day, I found someone selling the hood for a "beercan" lens. I bought it right away because these lens hood goes by really fast.

She only kinda likes me :p

Actually the lens and Pocket Wizards I am able to get because of a combination of my boss at work, my parents, and mostly my grandmother. My grandfather passed away a year ago this month, and she gave us some of our inheritances for Christmas.

Hopefully I'll have figured out how to use the Pocket Wizards in time for Sea Otter this year :D

You and everyone else! The problem with radio slaves at Sea Otter and other events is the other photographers who are also using them, triggering yours

Never Mind!!! Just googled on my second keyboard, it looks pretty cool, I expect to see lots of cool stuff out of you mud and cliff jumpers. I'll stick to my sedate specialized hybrid and actually using the roadside bike trails instead of the main street.

Oh bless you payn. I wanted good glass to replace that awful kit lens. And sometimes, using my beautiful 50mm, I just can't back up enough.

And I could say the same for you! Like you need another macro lens! Your macro's are awesome!

You are ALL way too kind to me. You'd be suprised.
I just did my own B&W conversion, did my own noise reduction and got rid of some awful shadows under my daughetrs eyes using the patch tool. That's the first time I have used it and it's a way cool tool!
I've attached before and after(s) here. Subtle changes but I am so pleased with the changes I made.

I will get a 70-200mm F/2.8 L lens one day. Maybe Christmas 2007 :D

I want to hear about the Intuos. I have been on the verge of buying one for a while now.

I'm still comming to grips with it. It has some obvious advantages the digital artwork side of my Photoshopping, but I'm not sure how useful it will prove in a straight photo-editing capacity. So far, I'm finding it easier to highlight the amount field and plug the value in manually. Ask me again in a couple weeks.

One thing I will say, if you do get a tablet, get a 6x8. The 4x5's are too small, and I've had several friends on other forums tell me that the 9x14 wears them out, as they have to incorporate arm movements into their style.

Lets see what did I rake in this year...

Tripod from amonova.com (thanks Brent). Its a great tripod with a great three way head.

Lens pen from my girlfriends dad

Camera bag from my mom

new swiss army knife (saves my butt all the time in the field)

And the coolest gift came from a fellow PR member. Greg McCary bought me a sweet little Canonet QL 17. From what I can tell the meter works great and the lens is very nice. Still have to finish the roll in the camera to see how they turn out.

Thats it till I get my Alpha in Feb.
