Can some body tell me the difference between following lenses when used with Canon rebel xti/400D

Tamron AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD for Canon DSLR
and
Tamron 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 LD Lens for Canon EOS(35mm slr)

I know I can use both with that camera. But want to make a wise investment and need help deciding Which one would be better in the long run?
I read very good reviews about the second one but want to feel good about choosing it over a lens made for dslrs..
The first one is made for dslrs so does it have an edge over the second, if yes how important?
chose these over canon because of the macro setting, not a big difference in price. every thing else is almost identical. Thats what is confusing.

if you are choosing one for DSLR's, the first one has the digital coating to help minimize such things as fringing. But sometimes the digital version isn't as good as the version built for 35mm. If you read reviews saying the second one is good, go for it.

Is it good long term? That is my main concern. I dont want to keep changing lenses too often.
2nd one has good reviews and is damn cheap $120.
the di ld also has good reviews and is $170-175.
Now tell me.
