I am doing my first photography shoot soon and I don't know how much i should charge. What is the average amount you ask for for around 1 hour of shooting...? I am pretty intermediate and remember, this person im taking it for is my friend. Thanks a lot in advance.

I just did a shoot a week or so ago for a friend, and I charged them $40 an hour, and I gave them a CD of the images that they could take back to where they live.

I'm still learning a lot about pricing/business so I am REALLY taking my time getting into the business aspect of photography. My plan now is to charge $40 an hour for portraits, and then charge for prints, which is what I tell my friends as well.

Also depending on the friend, I might trade them photos for something they have. So there is different ways of getting compensation for your work.

thanks for the reply! you are the only one. :) i was planning on 45 dollars so i guess it is a reasonable price. Yes i will be taking their pictures and just putting it on a cd. Thank you so much, and now i can finally tell my friend about our shoot.
