Canon has a pretty steady release cycle of 18 months for each line of DSLRs. The 30D was released in March so I wouldn't expect a replacement until Sept '07. The XTi was just released this September so...I wouldn't expect anything too soon from Canon, except for an outside possibility in the 1 series haven't seen anything new there for a while. Buy your camera now and you'll be taking pictures, wait, and you won't. I'd rather be taking pictures.
BuyDig, B&H, Beach, KEH(used and new) are my favorites for lenses.

I'm expecting a 40D or something like that, in the spring, at the next PMA show. The XTi's 10-megapixel sensor, anti-dust system, and new LCD should all find their way into a new prosumer model soon. And PMA is the most likely time for them to introduce it. The 2007 PMA tradeshow will be in Las Vegas in early March.

My last purchase was through Adorama, a body, two L lenses and a flash. It all came the exact day it was supposed to, and they didn't get pushy. That was an $8500 order though.

adorama's good, I prefer bh over them though. freedom of shipping is one feature I like. you can use whatever you prefer! prices are basically the same, but from my experiences with both, i feel bh is a little more trustworthy. not that i've ever had problems with adorama, it's just a feeling i get.

I'm not. Can't say as I've had to use the return policy at most of the places I suggested, but I have used KEH's and it was no questions asked, "here's your RMA, do you want something different from our inventory?" etc. etc. Adorama was a different story though. I bought a Tripod from them about 4 years ago, the Tripod came damaged with one of the adjustment nuts being stripped. After examining the unit I decided it wasn't sturdy enough for my needs so I returned it. Calling my salesman there for an RMA #, he didn't want to say 2 words to me, OK maybe 4 "heres your RMA number". It took 3 phone calls and 2+ months to have my card credited. I was going to buy a different tripod from them but the salesman's rude behavior changed my mind on that. He wouldn't even discuss different tripods with me, he must have been on to a $$$ sale with someone else.

I have a similar question in relation to the Powershot S3-IS; anyone tell me about the release cycle, and whether an upgrade is likely for that about Feb 2007 ?- 12 months after the S3 released; thanks for comments, butchy.
