JSPhoto 11-11-2006, 07:24 AM Nice job Jimmy, I'd suggest using your flash though, it will bring things out a lot better. I don't know if the 430 has the range you need though. JS Jimmy B 11-12-2006, 06:28 AM Some from Sat. SmartWombat 11-14-2006, 10:09 AM Looks like they are losing some sharpness when you post here, I assume the originals look good? The timing on #2 is great, and #8. I would crop that stray car's nose out of the right of #5 though. Jimmy B 11-14-2006, 01:01 PM Paul feel I am loosing some of the sharpness when resizing? Lets see how this one comes out, I feel it is the most clear shot from the weekend. Jimmy B 11-14-2006, 01:04 PM Paul, I think some of the sharpness is lost when resizing. #8 is the first in around a 6 shot burst. Non of my old bodies had motor drive so I have to remember to just hold it down.#7 is just how I shot it, figured I would try and see what happens, I like it. # 5 is a tick off in focus, but still has some quality to it imho. Jaedon 11-14-2006, 04:28 PM Nice shot of Matt Kenseth's car there on the last one. Looks crisp on my monitor. Any good shots of the wrecks from Sunday? I know there's weren't many till near the end of the race but I thought I'd ask in case you were in the right place at the right time. Jay Jimmy B 11-14-2006, 08:00 PM No I wasn't there on Sunday, I didn't want to be near the place on Sunday. I had been at the track since wen. working the South West elite division's final race:-( I am really sorry to see the Elite division end, I have been around it since 1986. 86 as a local track photographer,87 thru 2000 as a crew member, 01 through current as a technical official for NASCAR. See what happens next year? Jimmy B JSPhoto 11-14-2006, 08:57 PM Yeah, these day shots seem really soft. What lens did you use? What AF point were you using? JS Jimmy B 11-15-2006, 10:20 AM center point ai servo 70-200 L 2.8 apiture priority(spelling) JSPhoto 11-15-2006, 07:18 PM Odd, they shouldn't be that soft, I wonder if the AF is bad or if it just wasn't able to focus fast enough. Try to take some shots of moving objects and then do some where you prefocused and see if they are sharper or not. If so, it's just a slow AF, if not, you may have AF issues, especially if non moving subjects are out of focus. The below photo shows how a good AF on centerpoint should focus. Objects near and far out of focus while the center is in focus. JS Jimmy B 11-16-2006, 10:18 AM I think it's more the guy behind the glass. I have a shot like your example above of 2 guys walking and they are blurred but the guy behind them is in focus. Live and learn. I will be meeting with tadrscin tonight and hopefully get some info from him and learn a little more on PP, wich I don't know alot about? Loooking through the pics last night playing with cropping etc, most should be better. JB livin4lax09 11-16-2006, 01:59 PM they don't look that soft to me, only a few of them look pretty soft. remember to resharpen after resizing though. |
