I need some input from some of you who have owned these cameras. Right now I have a Rebel XT, which I love and use a lot (about to reach 20,000 shots). My current backup camera is a film Rebel Ti it works fine but I would really prefer a second digital. I know versions of this question have been posted before and I have read review and specs on each camera but I still need clear up a few things before I make a final decision. I am not really concerned about the number of mega pixels I’ve made 16x20 prints without any problems. My main concern is focus speed and ability to focus in low light vs cost increase. The XT has the 7pt auto focus and the Xti and 20d both have the 9pt., since I usually use the center point and Al-Servo (for night football) would I really gain anything from the change in focus systems? My current lens for football is a Canon 70-200 f4L. Would I be better off sticking to a XT and putting the extra money toward upgrading to a 70-200 f2.8 or going with the 20d or Xti? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

the 20d has better noise control in low light, but from what I've heard for a friend, it's Al Servo is messed up. but generally, the higher the line, the fast the AF will be anyways.

by messed up do you mean problems locking in focus?

Stina, also consider the new 30D, which is an upgraded version of the 20D.

I would love a 30D but right now the cost difference between the 20D or the XTi and the 30D would allow me to purchase some other things I also need. I guess I could just wait a while but I feel I really need to have a back up that is digital rather than film but the 30D sure would be nice :mad2:

i don't mean the focus doesn't lock, since it's Al Servo and the focus never "locks" persay, but it just doesn't follow well.
