Things seem to be dragging a bit here on viewfinder so I thought I'd throw in some images that I would normally not post. I have posted pictures of the Goddard White Bridge before but wanted to do an update of sorts. I've been photographing this bridge for nearly 40 years. It has been the subject of much attention in the last year or so. The bridge has been used in a national TV adds for Chevrolet trucks and is seen in many magazine and art books. The bridge itself has just within the last year been renovated and should be good for many years to come. A local preservation group recently bought 20 acres adjacent to the bridge and have hopes of making it into a park. There is also some talk of having it disignated as a state park. Here are a few images of the bridge and the nearby church that I took yesterday. Hope you enjoy. Oh and I couldn't resist trying a pattern type shot for Chunk.

Nice shots, OT. I've never seen a bridge like that in person. We don't have any of those around here. When was it built?

I like your pattern shot, but you know it's more than just a pretty pattern. It shows us how the supports are put together. Very interesting.

I took a trip to see a covered brigde here in Wisconsin a couple of years ago. There are only 2 covered bridges left in the state. When I got there, I learned that the bridge was build in the 90's, 1990's that is. It was still very nice, but not the "old rustic bridge" I was looking for.

Thanks Paul. I'll have to look up the stats on this bridge. We still have 4 coverd bridges within 8 or 10 miles of me. this is the only one that is still open to traffic. We are proud of our bridge and do every thing we can to preserve them.

When we got the money to have this bridge renovated we were very careful to make sure that it was done right and that as much original material as possible was reused. We would not allow any part of the bridge to be removed from the site. The company that got the contract had done several bridge but as we started to investigate we learned that they removed the whole structure to their location and many times what you got back was 75% or more new material. It cost more but this one was done the way we wanted it done. The integrity of the structure was maintained.

These are great OT. I've never seen a covered bridge b4. I like 1, 2 & 3 the best. :)

In my town they have been building a new suspension bridge right next to the existing one. It's been quite the deal watching it go up. It should be open in the summer of 07'.

Hey thanks John and JETA. Great to hear from both of you. My sports photography has been a little limited this fall so I have not been posting nearly as mouch over on the sports forum. I love covered bridges and have an opportunity here to photograph them at will since we still have a few in my area and even have what we call a covered bridge festival every summer.

You knew my favorite would be the "up close and personal" one. They are all beautiful Larry.

Hey Dana, you can get on the forums can't you. Glad you liked that one, it is the thing that is unique about the bridge here in Kentucky. The only one with this construction design in the state.

composition is very nice on all of them but # 3 is my favorite.

Thanks Jimmy. I've done so many of the bridge over the years that It's hard for me to be objective and also to get new ideas on comps and placements for photos. I've been everywhere but under it. Now there is an idea!

Buy 3 troll dolls take 3 different shots and give them to the Grandkids.
