View Full Version : Been Waiting for a Good Deal?

Need any more reasons to buy a new DSLR? Perhaps this weekend :)

Another round of Canon rebates will be starting this weekend in the US and they seem very aggressive this time - more so than the normal $15 here $40 there. I've been told that both the bodies I'm considering (30D and 5D) have good rebates along with "doubling" that actually makes sense.

Look for it and go for it!

Canon here in Australia are offering a $500 rebate on the purchase of a 5D Camera ($0.75US=$1.00AU). I thought it maybe to upset the gray importers?
Getting off the question, I am having trouble seeing the value in a 5D over 30D as the 5D is double the cost here?

I just bought the 5D and got a £100 back along with another £90 on the lenses.

A very good deal which brought the 5D down to £1500, which is the best I could find on the NET at the time. You watch it will now get cheaper since I've bought the thing.

Most definitely :p

That's great your were able to take advantage of the rebates! I picked up a 30D myself at the end of December when my local camera shop was having a 10% sale on all cameras. That along with $200 back put that body just at $1K. Already put +15K shutter actuations since then :)

The 5D is a very different camera. It's got a lot more resolution than the 30D, a full-frame sensor (which may or may not be a good thing for you), and it's a little bigger and burlier than the 30D. It's for a different market, really.

Manacsa,

Have you purchased your video gear yet? Canon has a $250 rebate on the XH A1.

Well if you two are finished...:p

Canon seems to have two promotions per year. I can say that pre-registering the rebate form online before mailing in the actual coupon works wonders. I received this last check in about 1/2 the time it took the previous checks.

With the 30D and lenses I purchased this last time, they sent me nearly $400 :) Definitely worth the effort to preplan the purchase.

Thanks, I know. It's one of the reasons I'm acting on it now. I made the order form BH yesterday.

I agree. I took advantage of the last round of rebates when I bought my 24-70mm f/2.8 L. The preregistration is very nice, and being able to track the progress of your rebate is a pluss too.

Somebody wake me up when this rebate becomes available. I'm gonna ask Canoga to rewrite my reciept when I buy the 300 f/4 IS from them so I can double up on the rebate.

Snoooooooooooze....................

Looks like the lens rebate has been out for a while but it's not as juicy as past Canon rebates. They are not doubling up this time on multiple purchases. Worse for me is that there is no rebate on the lens I wanted, 300mm IS.

popular opinion seems to be that if you give it time it will turn into a double. Just wait, canon may change it.
