Hey there,

My name is Saad, and I'm new here to these forums.

I own a Samsung Digimax A6 digital camera, and I bought it almost 2 years ago. I loved this camera ever since, only because it was giving me great quality in my photos. I never had any problem or concern with this camera, until now.

My digital camera started to mess up over to my trip to the Middle-East this summer. It was like, every time I turn the camera on, the screen would be pitch black. And even if I tried taking a picture with that black screen, my pictures would just come out plain black. Normally, 2 minutes after turning it on, the screen would slowly come back to the normal camera view. I had this problem going on for weeks, and I didn't care much over it. But at one point, about 2 weeks back, the camera permenantly shows that pitch black screen/photos. I got my digital camera shown to an electrician, and he said that my CCD lense sorta burned out.

I don't know if he's right or wrong, but if so, how did it happen? And is there any way I can get it fixed?

Thank you,
Saad

The CCD isn't a lens, it's the sensor itself. It could be burned out but the repair (if it can be done) would likely cost more than a new camera. At this point I'm sure that you don't have any warranty on the camera and it sounds like time to start shopping for a new one. The good news is that you'll get a lot better camera for the same money as you spent even two years ago.
