I am not a "bug" person at all but could not resist the colors.

Ugh.

Nice. I really like the bg, and it comes complete with lunch. Why have you been "hiding" these great images from us?

i also came back from knoa with pictures of these spiders. although the one i liked best was a silouette. against the sky.

i really like the background and how its split in to 3 leaves with the 2 gaps. it really makes the picture.

Dylan/Payn:

Thanks for the nice comments. So many interesting "new" bugs to shoot in Hawaii but this spider really caught my eye. Thanks for the comments.

As for "hiding" the images, the butterflies I posted on the Photo Critique forum with little success in terms of comment so finding the N/W forum is a new lease on life. At least people take the time to comment here.

I have more and will post as I can. I am still going through over 500 shots from a week in Hawaii. None that qualify as N/W so may have to resort to the Photo Critique page with those.

But, I will be back.

Thanks again.

Great image! The only way I can see to make it better would have been to center the spider more on the leaf so the legs are more defined on the upper right .

Paulnj,

Ah, good catch. Didn't even notice that. I will look and see if I have another shot that clears up that snafu. I took several.

P.S. On another subject, being a fellow Canon user, I had a very unfortunate accident while in Hawaii. I was swept off my feet by a wave. Did my best to keep the camera dry but it was splashed. Needless to say I have suffered some damage; the local repair shop took a look at it and made a quick diagnosis that the mother board was effected. The camera and lens has been packaged and sent to Canon Digital Services in Elk Grove Village, IL. I was just sick as this happened on day 4 of an 8 day stay. I had taken over 500 shots in those 4 days, too. Can't imagine how many more I would have taken but do know what I missed. Makes me cry to think about it.

Good luck. Most repair places refuse to work on water damaged gear .They do it sometimes though.

I was told to be prepared for just that, "can't be saved." Don't know what I will do after, not posting pictures for a while that is for sure. But, I am thinking positive and keeping the fingers crossed.

Well...

worst case... buy a used 300D(can't cost more than $300). I am thinking of getting the new XTi very shortly :)

Good thought. I hadn't even started thinking about how to replace it but both of those would be my next step up. I'll have to start searching the newspapers. Any suggestions on where to find reliable sources for camera gear?

You might try KEH in Atlanta, they have some good prices.

www.keh.com

or ebay (yuck)

KEH.COM is a good reliable source, but they don't have much used under $800 right now.

Thanks guys. I will give that a look-see. I will let you know how this all turns out. I received confirmation today that my camera reached Canon in Elk Grove Village. Now I wait....tick, tick, tick.
