I recently bought a Optio S60 from a young friend. I have taken lots of photos and downloaded them onto my laptop. Suddenly, about three weeks ago, I found that I could no longer connect the camera to the PC. Every time I plug into the USB port the PC crashes.

Is it something that I have done? I can plug the lead into the PC but as soon as I plug the other end into the camera - PC crashes. Would welcome any help but not too technical please!

I have uninstalled and re-installed ACDSee but it hasn't solved the problem.

My guess is you installed something else on your computer and that's causing a conflict with the camera, when you plug it in. The simplest solution is to buy a card reader and use it instead of plugging the camera directly into your computer. I never plug my cameras into the computer. Camera software is often buggy and temperamental. Card readers work great, you don't need power for them, and you can use them with any memory card. So even if you buy a new camera or borrow a camera, you won't have to install new software.

Many thanks for that suggestion. I had not considered a card-reader but that sure would solve the problem. Thanks again.

Anne, my guess is, it's the new windows update... KB917422
try removing that one, and re-try?

it messed up alot of USB devices :)
