If you have a CD writer then it won't recognise DVD's. You should get yourself some blank CD-R's. They only have 700MB of storage but it's more than enough for a slideshow.

Thanks, I've tried writable cds. Though, the key is, to figure out how to view a slideshow on my TV using a dvd player...

I don't have a DVD player (I use my PC) so I can't carry out this test to completion but this is what I just did.

Using my video mastering software (ULEAD) I made a slideshow of some still images. As output I chose VCD format. This is an older format for videos on CD that I believe is recognised by many DVD players. I burnt the slideshow to CD-RW and now I have a slideshow on CD - that I can't test because no player.

Your DVD player has to be compatible as well. Just because it plays DVD movies doesn't mean it can read photo CD & DVD. It needs to be able to read whatever format your software is set to record with otherwise the DVD reader can't read it and won't recognize the DVD or CD.
