View Full Version : Ack! What have I done?!
Somehow an innocent day out ended with me coming home with a 10D. Yay for me! But ohhhh for my poor wallet. Oh well. These things happen. I'm busily reading the manual right now, but of course I had to take some pictures right away. The nice guy at my local camera store/lab popped a fully charged battery in there to display it for me, then said, "Ah, we'll just forget that's in there." He also gave me a 512MB CF for the price of a 256MB. Things like that are why I love having a good local lab.
Anyway, the lighting in my apartment was poor by the time I got home (hence the poor DOF), and I have no idea what I'm doing yet with settings, but I couldn't help but terrorize my cats.
Shot at 1/8, so blurry, but I still think this one has a particular "charm" to it.
She just doesn't understand photography.
walterick 05-01-2004, 07:51 PM I'm sure she'll appreciate seeing this one on the wall in the next few days.
Glad to see you went high-scale to replace that FM2N :)
Congrats!
Spike 05-02-2004, 10:14 AM Yes, I too can see the charm of this one. :)

Heh. Actually she loves it - she's already emailed it to people, and made me print it out.
And Walt? "There's no basement in the Alamo!"

Charles Hess 05-02-2004, 04:04 PM Ah, who needs food, clothing, and shelter as long as you have the camera you want. :-) Nice first images, especially of the refined debutante. :-)
walterick 05-02-2004, 06:31 PM At long last! Someone has identified my message!
er, I mean -
"I know you are but what am I? I know you are but what am I?"
No kidding! Ramen noodles here I come!
In fact, I've just gotten myself in deeper by ordering the Sigma 12-24mm. I'm absolutley in love with the 10D, but I'm also a wide angle fanatic. This morning I brought the camera to a really cool rundown house and was quite frustrated when I had to go across the street and I still couldn't get far enough away to get the shot I wanted. (Besides - I'd rather be right up close with some funky-ass angles :) )
Right now the smallest focal length I have is the 70mm end of my Canon. My 24mm Sigma would need to be modified ("err99"), but even so 38mm isn't wide enough for my liking. Most of what I've seen on this lens looks very promising. Keep your fingers crossed!

Are you kidding? Of course I idenitified it - I'm a loner Walter, a rebel.

I want samples from the 12-24, i want them large, and I want them SOON.
Get on it.
Oh, and congrats.
Yes sir. Right away sir. Or rather, as soon as it gets here sir.
Thank you sir.
Danielle :)
Thanks you guys! I am already completely in love with this camera. The weather here was pretty bad today, hopefully I'll be able to get out and take some pictures tomorrow.
I'm definitely going to try my hardest for Boston - I've been dying to go there and haven't managed to fit it in, so this is the perfect excuse. And of course I'm excited to see everyone! (And I still owe you that print I promised you - I need to get my butt in gear!)
Thanks again.
