Hi Emily,,,,,nice pic..I like the contrast between the lily and it's leaves....Your exposure is spot on without the whites of the lily burning out and you still have detail in the dark leaves..I would have liked to see more DOF so the bottom of the lily in sharper..Difficult I know shooting close up..

I had a smidgen of trouble getting the right angle on this, as far as getting the whole lily sharp. I'm having a harder time getting low enough on some of these, with the whole almost 8 months preggo thing going on...lol! I have another shot I might post, with a different composition, see if that one works better. :D

It's a pleasing shot for sure. I don't have a problem with the base being slightly soft. Rather, I'd like to see the very tip top sharp. As if stating that the lily is not just growing from the base but getting sharper from the base up.

The image feels a bit top heavy. Perhaps placing the base of the lily closer to the bottom of the frame and opening up the top a little (I don't know if you have any more image up there). Also, rotating the entire image 1 degree clock-wise might give it an elegant touch.

8 months! I won't ask you to reshoot it in the prone position :p Take care!

Emily, I like this. It is so curvy, from the flower to the leafs. The colors are right on too.
I agree with Loupey that the lily should be positioned lower in the frame with more breathing space at the top but it still looks good to me.

Beautiful lines going on here Emily. The outer curve of this lily reminds me of the maternal form too. I think you did well controlling the exposure here too. Wish I could grow callas in my yard.

How elegant! To me, the blossom is soft with the edge of the leaf below it being sharper. I think I'd like the overall softeness if it didn't have the contrasting sharpness in the leaf.

What I really like is the pattern of spots on the leaves that I don't usually see in calla shots.
