Well, I went back to this pub to try some of the suggestions from my last post.
This is a quicky from the darkroom...so I would like some suggestions on whether to proceed or scrap...
And just an overall critique would be nice as well :)

Oh, and there is the weird smudge thing in the middle, that would be from my high quality scanner, its not on the print. :rolleyes:

other than a few areas that need dodging (the people, some of the pubs front) I think this is one of your better photos I have seen. I like the diagnols shadows and the straught almost vertical crosswalk, and how they interesct. The back ground and trees might be a little hot, but they are very close. Nice work for something quickly done. Not too much more work left.

I like the dynamics of this. I don't hink it needs any fixing. It's got a very individual style.

I like this version much better. Way to go re-shooting the scene (and, I hope those guys didn't mind you shooting their photo!!!).

Unfortunately, I'm looking at this on my laptop and thus cannot judge grey-scale well. But, the contrast seems a bit high. I like it, but the sky looks blown. I'm not sure, but it may be worth a try to drop the contrast a tad.

Otherwise, I like the composition. I like the abrupt ending of the building, yet the lines are continued with the shadows. And they lead me to those [gulp] two guys.

I like how this shot takes the viewer from an old style of architecture on the left to the modern cityscape on the right. And I like that there's a very strong division between the two.
I think some of your highlights are a little blown out... I would probably burn the sky a bit.
Overall a really nice shot!

Zack - thanks for the compliment. I was really drawn to the crossing lines in this as well. This was only my second print...so I got a little more work and will be correcting the problems you mentioned.

Que paso, Tim? Actually these were the only people that would walk across the street...I had set this photo up waiting for someone to get to that spot AND everytime people would get to the corner by the building, they would cross going to the right. Anyway, these guys didn't notice. I shot with a small rangefinder, 35mm fixed lens, that is pretty inconspicuous. Never had any problems.
Yes, contrast is a bit high and I will tone it done some and try to get a bit more detail in the highlights.

McMadCow - I will hopefully get some more detail in those highlights when I print again...this is where the photo is lacking in my opinion too. This is Pioneer Square in Seattle...with the "downtown" in the background.
