I've not been able to acess the forums for some time so I gave up. Today I thought I"d give it one more shot and well, here I am!!

Quite a lot has happened since I was here last. I think the last post I did was when my father passed away back in Nov. Seems so long ago now!

I have finally decided to push on and make photography a business. I am still working part time as a nurse but am really wanting photography to become more of a permenant thing. Life's too short!

I have a website, for those who are interested the html is http://www.wendyroscoephotography.com.au I'd love feedback if you have time! My son designed the site, I jsut gave him photos!

Just last month I was honored with the announcement on being Photographer of the Year 2005 and won a D70s! I have a D70 so not sure what I will do with 2 lol! The details of this win is on my website. I have also had my first ever picture published in a local newspaper and that makes me proud also.

It's been a bit hard getting out in this dreadful weather we are experiencing atm so photo taking is a bit slow. I do have one I'd like to share if that's ok

Ok I lied, I added two pics!
It's great to be back finally!

Cheers Wendy :)

Welcome back and congratulations on the Photographer of the Year honor. The shots on your website show that it's deserved. What organization granted that?

Hello Tink (Wendy),

Yes, we remember you!

Congratulations on winning the Photographer of the Year, and on your D70s. Now you have a backup, and since you're persuing a career as a pro photographer now, you will want a backup camera. Even for things like shooting weddings, I've found that a second camera is very useful. Having one with a wide angle lens and one with a zoom lens keeps you from having to change lenses, and that by itself is enough to warrant a second camera.

Glad to see you back on the boards. Do keep us informed of how your business is going.

Hi Speed!

I was thinking of keeping a 2nd camera but my hubby is not keen and prefers the cash!! I have about 5 wanting to buy the new or the old one off me already too so not sure. I do have 2 film cameras as well which I am tending to enjoy using for b&w in particular. I've just purchased a Mamiya C33 and am loving that! Mind you, i've yet to learn a lot about it lol!!

Thanks for your lovely comments re POY :D

Don't even think about giving up that second body. Too many things can go wrong and it takes way too long to make them right. In the last year I have had the meters in both my D2H and my D70 go bad. With out the second body I would have been out of the business till the repairs were done. A second body is just very useful in many ways. and as for the husband, let him win photographer of the year than he can decide what to do with his prize.

Welcome back and congrads on the award! I'd definately keep the second camera too - sounds like a backup couldn't have come at a better time for you. Even with film cameras I wouldn't show up at a job without two of them - and digital just has all that many more possibilities of something happening.
