Picture taken at sunset, hence the orange highlight on the feathers (and the graininess of the background).

Location - 25 miles north of Tucson Arizona, at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains

Beautiful. We don't have that variety around here. We have the ruby throated hummingbird which I will try and get a shot of this summer.

great image! I have only seen one and it was in Sedona AZ.

What gear did you use to shoot this(and the others).

We have a lot of them, (hummingbirds) and several of the Broadbills have taken up residence, (they're usually migratory)

I used a Canon Rebel XT SLR with a Canon 70-210 mm telephoto. Shutter speed 1/250

Ah yes. Tucson is known for the hummingbird population and mexican rarities. I myself couldn't convince my family to go south of pheonix when it was 117 there in august :) I did shoot 5 species in Sedona though .

How much cropping did you do here? I shoot a 100-400 IS and still had a bit of trouble getting that tight usually.
