Emily Overbeyond 04-05-2006, 10:22 PM Emily; your other current postings are great especially Sophie in the window but this one is the one for me. It's a little blown around her shoulder but thankfully her face has not been effected. Her face looking away or down is the main attraction because it is so unposed and natural. A little girl in her own thoughts. There is also very nice movement in her hair and the sun has caught it beautifully above her forehead and the background is spot on. Print it and hang it for everyone to see. Tom julsoph 04-06-2006, 12:07 PM Thank you, Tom! I really appreciate your feedback. :) Emily jar_e 04-06-2006, 02:04 PM I agree with Tom, one of the best ones I can remember of your recent posts. The rectangular crop works perfectly and the black and white is nice and strong. On the right side, the shirt is a little overexposed, but I still think it works well. Great shot. CLKunst 04-06-2006, 03:44 PM Emily~ Welcome back! Hope you had a great trip. This is just a precious picture of Jules! Did we have the conversation about how some pictures of children allow us to flash forward and see a glimpse of how they will look when older? I think that this image really does that! The B/W conversion is beautifully done and the tones are beautiful. Send it to your family and frame it and hang it on the wall! ~Cindy julsoph 04-06-2006, 07:07 PM CLK & Jared...thanks so much for your thoughts on this! :D CLK...I'm still here in Maine...I go back on Monday. It HAS been a great trip, but I'll be so happy to get home! :D Thanks again for your feedback, guys... Emily amithi 04-06-2006, 08:00 PM I'm with Tom, absolutely beautiful little girl... and those eyelashes, my goodness. Definitely worthy of wall display :) julsoph 04-06-2006, 08:06 PM Thank you, Meg! :D Yoyo Szeto 04-08-2006, 02:06 AM Hi Emily, Tom summarises it very well. I think the composition is good. I wish the right part of the face is a bit lesser exposed. A simple and effective shot! yoyo Bevb 04-08-2006, 07:52 AM Yet another beautiful image of yours Emily, as iv mentioned before portrayal and abstract not my strongest points but you make it look easy, the saying "working with animals or children is not easy" and il second that, but your composition and how you have caught that vulnerable look of julianna is touching. I agree with Meg, a worthy wall display. Bev. Tuna 04-08-2006, 11:03 AM A thoughtful portrait - her downward glance makes for a natural presentation and the crop at the top is a pleasant choice. Tuna GB1 04-09-2006, 08:20 PM One of your best posts ever. There are several strong things going on in this shot - nice contrast, a dynamic energy in her hair, deep contemplation (esp for a kid), and a really pretty bubble-like effect in the out of focus area on the left side (was that the lens you used, or some lens flare?). Definitely one to print and display in a photo album. GB julsoph 04-10-2006, 08:30 PM Yoyo, Bev, Tuna & GB... Thank you all so much for your thoughts on this. :D I really appreciate the feedback. GB...it was a bit of lens flare, I believe. :) Emily P.S. Apologies for my sporadic posting, btw...I just got back from Maine this evening, and I'll get back to normal posts and critiques this week, hopefully. :) |
