Taken on the first full day of spring. We had very little snow this winter. As a matter of fact, NONE fell during the winter. Only in the fall, then on the first day of spring! :) Let me know what you think and any suggestions for improvement. Thanks! :)

We had a crazy snowstorm here in NY today. I would crop in a little closer to the robin - the composition would be a bit tighter IMHO.

Marty,

Great shot and talk abotu contrast between spring and winter! I agree with Megan, a little tighter crop would go a long ways on this shot. The colors are a tad bland, but I think it works well still as the "dull" colors bring across the winter feeling.

Well done,

Jared

Thanks Megan and Jared!

Here are a couple of tighter cropping attempts. Any opinions on which is better?

Need longer lense, or more pixels. You just can't get close to those Robbins ;)

Yes, freygr, they do hop away when you try to approach! I started trying to get a shot of this little guy when he was on the grass to the right and behind my position when I shot! Everytime I tried to position myself to get him with snow in the frame he bopped away! Eventually I shot this (and a couple other shots in burst mode that didn't come out) and was satisfied that I wasn't gonna get anything better that day! :)

Marty,

I like the first redo you posted. A great shot and the robin balances out the snow and the shot well! Great eye on the crop by the way. Well done.
