Hi,
My lcd is very randomly turning off when I am going through the menus or reviewing pictures.. I have it so the menus won't turn off for a while. I am pretty sure I am not touching the shutter button or the DOF preview. I just turned the camera on a couple of seconds ago and it did it about 4 times but then after taking some shots it works fine. Another time it did this after taking a lot of long exposure night shots. Whenever this happened the battery had a good charge too.
Thanks.

have you tried a different memory card?

It is so random that I dont know if a different memory card will help. I will try it though. I am pretty sure I have the newest firmware for the D70s. Thanks Harry. Any more suggestions anyone?

Wow, that sounds like you have an intermittent problem BUt when you said it's ok after taking a few shots, is the shutter button nice and stiff and does it take more than a slight touch to get the camera to zoom focus?

And on that note, do you notice the focus mechanism moving when the display kicks off. That would indicate intermittent contact on the shutter button.

Otherwise, that sounds like an internal problem. Either way, if it keeps happening, you might have to send it in.

Yea my shutter button is pretty stiff for the first focusing part. I also forgot to mention one time it happened I pressed the image review button with the green arrow and nothing would happen so I pushed the menu button and nothing would happen. I turned the camera off and on and it worked again. I hope there is some sort of warranty on this thing because I ordered it from butterfly photo. I'll have to check. I have to wait and see still. hopefully it will go away.

I would contact Nikon tech support. This may be a "known" issue to them. May be not. If your camera is new, then it is still under warrantee.

I had an "electronics" issue with my D70 when it was new. Nikon repaired it and turned it around pretty quickly. It's a bummer to have a new camera not work right. But, it'll be worth it to contact Nikon about it.

Good luck,
Tim
