Until my next outing anyway :D

Building detail, and an experiment. On the building detail there may be some compression artifacts, anyone know a way around this? I saved at the highest quality, and ran through neatimage.

payn, I don't know about artifacts, but the colors are good and solid, and the flow of the lines from upper right to lower left work really well. The bottom one, I don't know--what was the experiment?

Thanks. I don't know what exactly I was trying to do. I was actually trying to shoot something else, and a person creeped into the frame. I liked the negative space with the silhouette, and the deep blue, so thought I would see if others saw anything in it. That is cropped from something else.

I'm nuts over diagonals and rectangles and you've given me plenty. I really like the top photo because of its strong color and geometrics.

As for the second, I think it's interesting but I think it would say more as a part of a series hung together (a shadow sitting in a chair. A shadow lying on the floor. And always waiting. SOmething along those lines). Alone you're not sure, but as a grouping it could be pretty powerful.

Thanks D. I have always been an admirer of architecture, but until VERY recently have not been able to put any of my love for it in print. Come to find out it was the small things that attracted me, and thanks to a few people here, I have discovered a way to show people what I see. Of course, my friends and family look at me crazy because I am always looking up, and shooting things like doors, arches, etc...

I agree about the second being part of a series along the same lines. But, it shall never be, alot I do is experimenting with theory and technique, and re-apply those elsewhere in my work. Your thoughts on this certainly help give a view into the mind of a viewer, and is greatly appreciated.

Wow. Another very strong shot. Diagonals - strong colors - interesting patterns and lighting. I think the exagerated perspective adds a lot too.

Thanks Chunk. I was really bored waiting in line, and this place had some great shapes, and patterns. The lens was new (just purchased the day before) and I had no idea what kind of sharpness, color rendition or perspective it would give.

Really like the abstracted architectural picture! Does not look like too many artifacts to me at all.

Process from a .TIF or RAW file if you can and try different resizing methods and even downsizing in steps, not unlike upsizing the same way. That often helps with artifacts. Don't use Unsharp masking until after you resize. Halo's from the sharpening processes can be very adversely affected by resizing, again, dependent upon method (nearest neighbor, Lanzcos, fractal, etc.).

The colored silhouette seems to have some chromatic abberation along the dark/light edge. Either that or an unintended consequence of processing? I still like it on some levels. A little sharper edge defintion or a much larger radius of blur/transition to the blue might be a possibility.

Curious, like others, as to details of the 'experiment' ?

Perhaps it wasn't so much an expirement, this lovely blue wall had different shaped signs on it, and I was trying to frame it up correctly when the person walked in, so I took several shots thinking it may be interesting to some. Then a huge crowd entered the area, and I couldn't get the silhouetted shapes against the BG. Whenever I attempt something abstract, I usually refer to it as an expirement (for some odd reason) perhaps due to the lack of abstract work on this forum. Another reason for the use of the word has to do with the composition, use of negative space, selection of crop, etc.

The part you mentioned isn't CA, the guy walked in as i was pressing the shutter, and his friend said something, he looked and kind of moved as if dodging out of my way. So, it is motion blur.

In fact, I think perhaps (again) it is only the deep color I like about it.
