I went to a nearby park today and caught a few shots of the eagles there. I wish I had more powerful lens, but I don't, so I had to make do...:) Here are a couple:

View Full Version : Eagles from today... julsoph 01-26-2006, 07:18 PM I went to a nearby park today and caught a few shots of the eagles there. I wish I had more powerful lens, but I don't, so I had to make do...:) Here are a couple: Emily readingr 01-27-2006, 05:36 AM I like the bottom one - I hope the original is a lot sharper than posted here because this is well framed and I can see that the eagle is watching the bird thinking lunch. What does this eagle eat? On the other 2 perhaps if they were angled towards a corner of the image would have been a better composition for the bird. Roger julsoph 01-27-2006, 05:43 AM Unfortunately, Roger...these are about as sharp as I could get them...I was pretty far away from him, and had to crop down quite a bit. :) Thanks for your thoughts on these. Emily dbutler 01-27-2006, 06:41 AM I like the first and third. The first, I like how you've placed him. I'd crop a bit off the bottom to even out the balance with the blue at the top. But I like the use of negative space and him being so far to the left. But that's a D. thing. As for the bottom, I agree: The fact that he's eyeing the gull makes you wonder what he's thinking. Good Show, Emily! SmartWombat 01-27-2006, 01:32 PM These are cropped I guess. I really like #1, there's space for the bird to fly into. But you need to clone out that dust blob just to the right in line with the top wingtip. The second, I wish the bird was watching something, like perhaps you :) But seems instead to be looking up, and there's not really much to capture me. Third is nice, seems to be eyeing up the gull. But the front of the head, critically around the eye, is in shadow. Wish I had birds like this to photograph here ! Eagles are rather rarer here I think. swmdrayfan 01-27-2006, 03:09 PM Re: the bottom shot.....take a second look. Does that look like the eagle is sitting on the upturned snout of a gator or what?;) John julsoph 01-27-2006, 04:15 PM D, thanks. :) I think the blue in the 1st and 2nd photos is throwing people off too, because I didn't realize they would post that way...it makes it look like a lot more empty space underneath the 1st pic. Paul, thanks for you suggestions on this...and yes, way more cropped than I like to...:D I just recently found this park in the area, and it harbors 75 pairs of eagles (I think that's the correct #)...plus osprey and herons, etc. Really fun place to birdwatch, if nothing else! John, you're absolutely right!! Lol... Thanks for the feedback, all! Emily |
