Hey people, im from England. I was lucky enough to get a Canon IXUS 750 for christmas.

I have been snap happy since i got it and cant put the damn thing down. I was just wondering if people would give me the opinion on my pics. I am quite proud of them becuase its only a small digital camera and not a large SLR.

We were lucky enough to have white(ish) christmas.

Please give me some feedback.

Many Thanks

Edd

Hello Edd, nice to see another from this side of the pond.
The white Christmas missed us here in Oxford, it was just wet.
Then we went to Kent for New Year just after it all melted.
So yet again I've missed the seasonal pictures you've captured.

Welcome !

Hello Edd...very nice works! I started with just a little p/s camera, so understand the limitations, very well. I think you have a nice eye. And all of your pics show promise. I think they all could use a little work in Photoshop. Your macros, to me, could use some cropping to get rid of some of the background clutter. But I'll leave the more critical critiques to those who know much more than I do. Also, if you really want critiques of your works, make sure to post in the "Critique" forum. Everyone is more than willing to offer you suggestions!!!!

And welcome to PR!

First off, let me agree with Ken on two counts. First, if you want feedback, Critique is the place to post your images. You will get PLENTY of feedback there! Second, I agree with Ken that you have a good eye for composition. As for specific feedback, here ya go:

First shot is nice, but a little dark. I think the snow in the background, being in sunlight, underexposed it.
Second shot is very nice. I like the composition.
The third shot is nice compositionally, but there's nothing to make it interesting.
The fourth shot is gorgeous. Just watch out for the bulls eye effect. That is, don't place your subject in the center. Instead, focus on your subject, then holding the shutter release partway down to lock the focus, recompose the shot. Also, this one would have been more interesting with more sky and less black foreground.

Number five is a great shot with pattern.
Shot six is very well done. I like the tree with the sun behind it, and I like how it is offset, Very nice compositionally.
Seven and eight are both nice in that they have a splash of color, and the subject is offset.

Nine is very nice. Great colors, great bokeh, and the diagonal through the frame is very nice.
Ten is a nice shot, but like number three, it needs something more.
Number eleven is another great shot. Great angle, and nice use of both foreground and background.
Twelve is another nice shot that would be better if it were lighter. Either open up to let more light in, or, if you have Photoshop, lighten it up there.

Overall it looks like you are off to a great start. Keep shooting, post in Critique, and remember that the feedback you get isn't personal, it's your fellow photographers trying to help you improve.
