They've both been doing it unofficially for a while, and doing a great job. Please welcome SmartWombat and JSPhoto as the new Sports Forum moderators. Between the two of them I think everyone here will get the help and inspiration they need.

Thanks guys!

alright! I saw the thread title and knew who it was. Good luck you guys. Moderating can be fun, but hard work.

Thank You Photo John and SW! Should be fun with our different views of sports. It isn't like we have much to moderate here though...a great group of posters here.

Eggs - actly! :)

It's mostly about being a leader and trying to keep us inspired.

Hmmm, I'm the one in need of inspiration at the moment. I have picked up the camera once in the past two weeks. I may try and sneak off to a hockey game tomorrow though.

I know what you mean, JS. I haven't had a sport to shoot in almost a month. But starting January 2nd, I'll be busier than I ever have.

I'm inspired all right.
A whole week at F1 testing with my new body.

Yes, I broke down and since Santa didn't visit me ...
... bought a new laptop because the old Compaq died (keyboard failure - press F1)
... bought a 1DmkIIN

So now I'm all ready for a week of activity.

Sorry JS ... I'm in another dimension - er no, sorry, time zone.
So we don't overlap online that much unless we both keep some very unsocial hours !

No sooner do I get a badge of office than I have to go away
So that's good and bad news; I won't be here, and I'm off to take some more photos next month !

Thank you John.
I wasn't expecting this until I'd sent in my bio, so seeing the announcement was a bit of a surprise !

There's not much moderation to do, is there?
We seem to be a pretty well behaved bunch, if there has been moderation in the past - it's been done in moderation <groan> with a light touch.

In my case, there's going to be a fair amount of leading from behind
No way can I keep up with JS, though I'd like to try.

Hi SW,
Actually, I do keep very "unsocial" hours. It's hard to sleep with as bad as this shoulder hurts, and I'm sure sitting here typing on the computer doesn't help, and I know for certain holding the monster camera doesn't help.

LOL, you will be busy! Here too though. It's not official yet, till later today or tomorrow but I have a new project that will keep me busy during the day the next two months and then all next football season :) I'll get to see the best of Indiana High School Football though! I will also get to visit most of the 319 football playing schools in the state the next two months.

Glad to hear you got a new camera, it's a great piece of equipment! I need to replace my laptop, broken screen and it got soacked from a leaky roof....ouch!

Tomorrow & Friday I will be going to Ft Wayne for the indoor midget and Kart races. I am sure I will have plenty of action shots from this. NASCAR champ Tony Stewart will be racing both days in the USAC midgets so I am sure I'll get plenty of shots of him. With Tony there it will be a full house both days.

Wow!! Great choice Photo John. These two guys have been great on this board as well as the others. They will make a great team and will help keep the Sports Board growing and active. Grads to both of you. Looking forward to working with you to keep things going on this side.

Damaged Screens...broken keyboards. I've had both (along with two failed motherboards in the same machine and another failed motherboard in my current laptop). Thank god for extended warranties.

Just currious, do moderators get compensated in any way, other than their "moderator super-powers"?
