I noticed this book in the library the other day:

It's about a birder and his son who traveled the planet and saw over 7,000 different species of birds. It got me thinking about how many birds and animals I've photographed and when I looked at the folders on my hard drive, I found 191 different species of animals and 85 birds.

Does anyone else keep a count out there? I'm not asking to be competitive or anything, just curious.

Though I personally don't have anything like that tallied, one of my friends back home I believe had a current running total of in the range of 550 for animals...so quite impressive, though not the thing for me.

Having lost my hard drive a few months back, I can't tell you how many species I've taken photo's of. But most of my animal shots have been of pets and birds.

I think Paul is the only one who can beat your numbers. (He probably has that many owls in his hard drive!)

BTW, I'm impressed with your numbers. You're quite the wildlife photog!

No where near those numbers, lava, but hope to give you a run for your money for 2006. This is one of the main areas I want to focus on for my photography.

I have a very high number, but those freaks are the birders that BIRDERS make fun off .... not that I wouldn't do it if I had the money ;)

Now I know where to come with my bird shots. :p

The thing about the numbers is that most of my animal ID pictures look like the ones of BigFoot in the Enquirer. I just show you some of the good ones once in a while...

Can't count how many I have seen....but about 4 I have proof in the form of photos. :D
