Taken back in August on the way to Cape Lookout Lighthouse. They were all around the boat, so we drifted and took some photo's.

Nice shots, speed. That has to be a pretty wild experience. Love all of them, but #3 I have to wonder what the old boy ran into to have that much of his dorsal missing. :eek:

Boat prop ;) Dolphins are very curious and like to follow boats.

Dolphins are amazingly intelligent except when it comes to staying away from propellers. I've see a quite a few in Florida and in Mexico. They have a "swim with the dolphins" program in Puerto Vallarta, which is really awesome. Dolphins seem to like touching and human attention. They are naturally curious. This one has a large scar on his side. He was rescued when very young and is now part of a show.

I'm all for the last shot. Love it, kind of a random, abstract feel to it, but works great IMO.

Like I said, I definitely wouldn't want to run into it!

When I was 19 I worked on a charter boat. We (the younger members of the crew) would lay down on the bow and watch dolphins swimming in our bow wake. It was so cool.

I've never seen dolphins in the wake behind a boat, but I've seen photo's of it. I can see how that could lead to an injury.

For the record, no dophins were harmed in the photographing done on this day!

I love dophins and find them to be fascinating creatures.

I've seen them perform at Sea World, and it is amazing the things they can do. The most awesome thing I ever saw though, was standing on Atlantic Beach and I saw a dolphin leap out of the top of a wave. It was like the ultimate body surfing. That was incredible.
