Something about the second one seems off, perhaps the flowers are dull, any tips on making the flowers more vibrant while keeping the rest the same? Maybe a flash? Or editing?

Another option although not available after the fact would be to shoot from a higher angle so the flowers aren't in front of the very bright sky.

I think a bit of fill would have helped the flowers but you wouldn't want it too strong. I like the scene as it is with the lake and hills being the subject. If you brighten the flowers much, they become the subject - that's OK if that's what you want.
Lots of gulls in that first pic. Hitchcock could have used it. :)

yeah it was scary, I wanted an umbrella, but fortunately, I didnt need it ;)

I feel that the bottom shot is the stronger of the two: more balance, better color, better composition. But the top one is different - it has a great October, errie feel :) With all those birds there, I guess it shows why wetlands are protected areas.

A couple geese and some, err...goslings...yeah, so I cheated and looked it up. Slight crop because I didnt like how I originally framed it. taken probably at 200mm.
