Very nice shots...I, like Axle, love the drummer!! I guess I've lived in small town America too long because I've missed a lot of this type of activity. One of these days, I'll get to NYC...I think I'd have a ball...keep up the great work...

Such sharp snappy saturated pics. These are great, Liz. Have you tried converting to black and white? These might be really great in b&w too, especially with the expression of the drummer in the cropped photo. Without color, the focus is immediately the facial expression on the man's face. Just my two bits. (I need to stop contributing my bits and pennies and contribute some photos :o )
On another note...Sometimes I miss the big city. We don't get much of this in the podunk towns around my neck of the mountains. Sometimes I wish I could find a weekend by myself to just mosey around downtown San Francisco (nearest really big city to me-Arnietown-I mean Sacramento, doesn't really count as a big city) and shoot street photos.
Oh well, maybe when I'm retired....

Thanks for the comments. B&W - yes, last night I actually thought about that and I'll give it a try in the next day or two. I haven't done this since I got the Rebel XT.

Sometimes I get prints made, take them with me to NY the next time - and hope to find the same people. Doesn't seem to work though. I have seen this drummer around a few times.

I hope you do get to NY - we could all get together for a gathering. That would be a nice Fall thing to do.

Liz these are great! I really like the first as you get a sense of place. This guys amidst the crowd, lost in his own beat :) people milling about everywhere.

Very nice Liz. I would love to be able to do a little street type photography but give my location in a very rural area. There is just not a lot going on on the street here. You have a gift for finding interesting faces and characters. Keep up the post.

Thank you everyone! I love NY! Although I have a sort of love-hate relationship with the city sometimes, especially when I see all the homeless - and some of the other not-so-touristy places. However, the good always wins - and I go back time and again.

I ams so happy to see you are continuing the street photography Liz. The quality is so nice and sharp, the color just great, and as always, you captured the people expressions so well. The second photo makes me want to know what the guy on the right is saying to this soldier.

for the encouragement. I love street photography. Actually this is basically all I've been doing ever since Charles Hess encouraged me after critiquing some of my first photos.

BTW, I like the 2nd one because it almost reminds me of a WWII soldier on leave - cigarette in hand, look on his face, etc. I followed this guy around for about 10 minutes before he stopped long enough for me to get a decent shot - and I couldn't get any shots from the front so we could see his face. But I think this worked ok.
