The picture is flawed, IMHO, in that the fish isn't very clear. The composition is nice and the circular ripples nicely balance the half-circle of the fish, but I think it has to be clearer to work. Chunk 12-20-2005, 01:02 PM Nice timing. I like the balance between the fish, ripple and reflection. I'm not worried by the murky water. drg 12-20-2005, 01:09 PM I'd like to see something for scale included in the picture. There's no indication for me how large this fish might be. Overbeyond 12-20-2005, 01:16 PM Who would have thought of taking a picture like this? Well you did and it works wonderfully well for me. Colours great and the nice circular movement of the water combined with the little reflection gives a great result. A simple and very attractive picture. Tom jar_e 12-20-2005, 01:25 PM I enjoy everything minus the out of focus/blurryness of it. Nice shot, Jared dbutler 12-20-2005, 01:47 PM I think it's awesome Emily. I like the circular motion that Tom referred to. And the fish looks less blurry to me than glowing. swmdrayfan 12-20-2005, 02:00 PM I also noticed the 'glow' around the fish. The picture seems to have some noise, but maybe that's my view. As far as the composition of the shot, it was excellent. payn817 12-20-2005, 02:18 PM I have tried this before, and that is some great timing. If you want to do something like this, try to find a friend or neighbor with a small pond with some Koi in it. It is usually clearer water, and you can actually get some serious detail in it. This was at a park or similar, correct? SmartWombat 12-20-2005, 02:30 PM Difficult shot, because of the murky water. I like the glow effect you get in that brown water and the splash from the tail. It's not so much a picture of a fish, more a picture of the essence of fishiness - without the distracting detail. Chunk 12-20-2005, 02:32 PM I'd like to see something for scale included in the picture. There's no indication for me how large this fish might be.Fish.. Scale... that's great - Wish I'd thought of that. :D julsoph 12-27-2005, 06:11 PM Again, thank you guys for taking the time to comment on this...I'm so sorry I didn't respond to the posts sooner. The feedback and critiques are always appreciated! I'll try to answer everyone: This was taken at a pond at a business center, and these goldfish were HUGE. Bigger than the ducks that were also swimming there...lol. I understand that the blurriness is not ideal, but my goal was to catch the tail swirling the water a bit...and I almost got it, just a split second late, heh. Thanks again for all the comments! :) Emily |
