I'm considering getting a used Rebel T2, to use as a backup film camera. My main system is my DRebel, and I use my AE-1 as my backup. I love my AE-1, but I find it very limiting in fast paced situations, and some of my lenses for it are hard to focus accuratley. So to utilize my Canon EF lenses, I'm thinking of a used T2. I would like the Elan 7NE, but don't want to spend that much money since I want to move forward with digital. I have read the reviews on this site and they look very posititve, but there are olny 2. I would like something with mirror lock, but that gets to be more $. Anyone have any thoughts on the T2 or any other EOS body as a backup? Any body I get, needs to have manual ISO adjustments.

I have the rebel Ti, which is the version before that, and I like it a lot. The fps count is low, so I don't know if that will affect your "fast paced situations." It has Manual ISO adjustments, and the focusing is very fast. I actually prefer using it over my 300d a lot of the time, just because it is faster. I'm assuming the t2 has most of the same controls as the Ti, and I would advise getting it if you're just looking for a qualioty film backup.

You will love the T2 get the battery grip as well and you have a fine camera.....I shoot film and digital.....but the T2 is soooooo quiet. real soft on the mirrir slap.....I use this camera at weddings.....and I love to take this to my portrait shoots they see me show up with a camera that wal-mart carries and they kinda get stiff they always love the results though.....metering is dead on.....the Ti is to small made for a women and strong enough for a man ;) But the T2 is has a little more beef to it....I slap on my canon 70-200 2.8L and i mount it on a tripod no collar cause the collar is a scam....has a metal lens mount.....man i could go on and on get the camera youll be glad ya did!.-Mr.U

the Rebel T2 is great, it is my first SLR, I got it from my wife for a wedding present last October, and I love it. I am still learning and I had a sit back from photography I had major back surgery in December, so I am still learning, but the pics look really good even for a begginer SLR user...
