Third attempt at architecture, comments appreciated. Crop was due to unsightly area, but anything else ya got throw it at me. I have this in color as well.

I am not sure about this one. The church for some strange reason seems squashed. I might have gotten closer, so as to emphasize certain details of the architechture. Right now, your picture has some appeal, but it suffers more from having several extra elements. The part of the building on the right does not add anything in particular. Whereas the two towers on the left are very interesting. Emphasize the towers more.

it seems perhapes a bit too bright, maybe if you tried a different angle as well, and went in a little closer like Dzerzhinski said, you would be able to bring out its beauty more. but its not a bad picture, keep it up :D

I would have thought the inclusion of the walk would have led the viewer into the image. The color version may be better for the detail part, i will have to look at that.

The towers caught my attention too. It just seemed odd to me that they were equally spaced, and on either side of the door, yet different sizes. It just seems to go against the grain.

Which reminds me. Do you think the film grain filter is too much?

perspective is skewed.... either use perspective crop in photoshop or invest in a view camera.

If you were going for that, then I would place the walkway in the center of the frame, starting from the bottom and leading upward into the photo.

Exactly. That is part of the reason this photo captures my attention. I would just concentrate on the towers. Emphasize the oddity, and cut out the extras.

This is a very subjective question and even for just me, I could be persuaded either way for numbers of reasons. If you kept the grain, then I would go for the IR look. This would actually make a very good subject for infrared. Now, on the other hand, this is the kind of subject that might benefit from fine grain. You want to show off details of course. I see it this way, you can either emphasize mood, or concentrate on the details of the architechture.

Looks like this could be an interesting building to phototograph. You need to decide what to accentuate. It is very easy with buildings to get too much in a photo. Else they need balance and symmetry, hopeful inherent in the building. The worst thing that jumps out at me is the downspout from the rain gutters.
The arched entry/breezeway appears to have closeup possibilities as do the cornices.OIf nothing else this in color or greater size might make the texture of the brick play well against the roof .

Unfortunately this is a fairly common architectural scheme for churchs of the period.
