The backlighting takes away from the photo. FIll flash or metering on her, rather than the background would have helped. I'd maybe want to be a little closer, too. Good place to shoot, though. I recognized it as San Diego right away, although I've only been three or four times.

Yeah, I tend to agree with Lava Lamp. You've got a really pretty model and I like the composition for the most part (she could be closer), but the poor lighting on her really kills the effect. By the look of the shadow angle on her, you could have had her rotate just a couple degrees to her right and the problem would have been fixed. On a positive note, even though too much of her is obscured in shadow, you really captured very dramatic and shapely lighting over the parts of her that are correctly lit.

Didnt even think of metering on her - good idea :) I suppose it would have been nice to zoom in to her and try a shot like that. I wish I have gotten lower and taken one like that too.

I think another time of the day might have been better, but I guess I could have had her tilt to her right instead of her left. One of the problems here was that there was no time to pose - the models were completely terrified that a train would come by and whack us (not a bad concern......), even though I had the other model watching out and was to warn us. I was less worried than them,... guess I was focusing on the shot.
